Dave is now Solar Thermal NABCEP certified as well. NABCEP is the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners TM. History of Great Brook Solar NRG LLC formerly Great Brook Enterprises
Great Brook Enterprises was established in June of 1978 for the purpose
of providing alternatives to "conventional" energy sources that have
been growing more expensive and less available.
The owner and founder David M. Austin recognized the energy crisis and
gas lines of the 1970's not as a disaster but a wake up call and an
opportunity to help create a better world for the future. Over the years Mr. Austin has gained a high level of knowledge and experience.
Solar energy is the primary source of all energy on earth. It is the
energy source that grows plants and produces our food. Without it we
would all die! It was stored in the earth via past plant and animal
growth in the form of fossil fuels.
Mr. Austin asked the question: Why do we have to use up all the stored
solar energy in the earth inefficiently using tremendous amounts of
energy in the extraction process when it is possible to use solar energy
directly more efficiently for so many applications? He figured we
should be saving the stored solar energy for applications more practical
for its use in terms of the whole big "earth system" picture instead of
just the short term momentary "bottom line" and profit margin. For what
difference does it make if we gain the whole world in the short term just
to use it up and burn it out rendering it useless for the
future? Mr. Austin went about putting
into motion the obvious solution, make solar energy collection equipment
and its professional installation available directly to the people.
In the process Mr. Austin discovered that there is a certain philosophy
and spiritual nature that is integrated into the use of renewable
energies. He has since set about to communicate such philosophies in
order to help alter the established societal thinking that corporate centralized distribution of energy is a necessity. We need a society
based on environmentally sustainable home grown local distribution of energy. Otherwise planet earth may loose its ability to sustain life as we know it.
Mr. Austin is quietly helping people realize the bondage of a system
based on dependence on centralized power by providing a means to
switch to renewable energy. Such reform of old school thinking is
a necessary component of growing toward an environmentally sustainable future.

OUR MISSION
Our mission is not only to help people save money
and raise their standard of living through use of renewable energy, but
to provide a measure of freedom from dependance on a centralized energy
infrastructure. As an integral part of reducing energy dependance our
mission is to help people who want to hear it, realize the spiritual nature
of our existence and see the grander scheme of things our daily lives
can often disguise. Helping people become more aware of our energy
usage patterns and how to be more energy conservative is one step in
the direction toward fulfilling a purpose given the human race by our
creator to tend the "Garden of Eden" in a responsible and respectful
manner instead of plundering it.
